The PointTag is useful when you need a permanent Niagara proxy point for an item in Supervisor station, say for “output links” into station control logic. Or, perhaps if the JACE is not serving PxViews and you wish to maximize “Supervisor configuration” via export tags before building PxViews. Otherwise, because of the automatically provided “Niagara virtual point” feature of PxViewTags, you may wish to limit the use of PointTags. Note that functionality was added to Niagara virtual points that makes them, in some ways, more powerful than proxy points.
